About the role

In this role you will mostly use Linux cluster, Python and OpenFOAM programming tools. You work closely with CFD model developers in a team that aims to answer performance related questions regarding engines and provide boundary conditions for further simulations for example with FEA. The goal is to decarbonize societies by developing engines operating with new carbon-free and low-emission fuels. There are 4-5 persons in the team. The work is hybrid but the main work location is Vaasa.

Work tasks

  • Performing simulations of Wärtsilä engines and analyzing results
  • Operating gas and fuel flows, flow calculation, engine and combustion simulation
  • Running parallel simulations In DoE fashion
  • Automating execution and post-processing
  • Contributing feedback to the model developers
  • Developing OpenSource software in connection with OpenFOAM community

We are looking for

  • Relevant educational background (eg. M.Sc, M.Sc student, or higher level of education)
  • OpenFOAM experience
  • Basic programming skills (Bash & Python)
  • Someone who is able to communicate efficiently in a multicultural and international team
  • Fluent English language skills

Database handling, graphics rendering (i.e. Paraview and Blender) skills as well as some additional IT, engine performance or data-science related knowledge are seen as advantage.
