ML Engineer, Tampere

About the role

As an ML Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and deploying end-to-end machine learning models of heavy machinery. This involves processing diverse sensor and telemetry data, training models in Azure, and ensuring their real-time performance in operational environments. You will work within product development teams, driving new functionalities and optimizing machine intelligence.

Work tasks

This role focuses on the full lifecycle of machine learning model development, from data acquisition and processing to model deployment and real-time operation on mobile work machines. You will be at the forefront of integrating AI into industrial applications, enhancing automation and predictive capabilities.

• Test on real equipment and collect actual data.
• Process and prepare diverse data for machine learning model training.
• Identify and select specific machine learning models.
• Test, parameterize, and deploy models for real-time operation on machines.
• Develop end-to-end machine learning models.
• Develop new functionalities like object recognition and drilling operation prediction.
• Utilize Microsoft Azure for machine learning development.

We are looking for

• Previous experience in machine learning, especially developing and deploying ML models to run on edge AI devices in real-time environments (e.g., sensor- or vision-based applications).
• Experience with cloud-based machine learning development — good knowledge of Azure is a strong plus.
• Strong command of English.

It is meritorious if you have

• Experience working with heavy machinery, mobile work machines, or industrial equipment.
• Experience with camera-based data or machine vision systems.
• Good understanding of sensor- and measurement data, data processing, or telemetry from machine control systems.
