Secondary System Designer

About the role

We are now looking for an experienced Secondary System Designer to join an international engineering team working on substation projects across Finland, the Baltics, and the Nordics. In this role, you will design relay protection, control circuits, and auxiliary systems for medium- and high-voltage substations. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that designs meet technical, quality, and safety requirements.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in electrical design to contribute to innovative energy infrastructure projects and to develop further as a technical expert in an international setting. You may also come from a commissioning engineer background in similar substation projects, what matters most is your ability and motivation to learn design tools and apply your technical understanding to engineering work.

Work tasks

As a Secondary System Designer, your days will combine hands-on design work with close collaboration across disciplines. You’ll translate technical requirements into practical, safe, and reliable electrical designs, participate in project reviews, and see your work materialize in large-scale energy infrastructure projects.

• Design and engineer relay protection, control circuits, and auxiliary systems for substations
• Prepare, review, and update technical drawings, schematics, and related documentation
• Work closely with project teams to ensure all requirements, schedules, and standards are met
• Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, company guidelines, and safety regulations
• Participate in site visits and commissioning when required

We are looking for

• Holds a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in the field
• Has at least 3 years of relevant work experience in electrical or substation design
• Is proficient in design tools (e.g., Eplan)
• Communicates fluently in English; Finnish, Estonian or Nordic language skills are considered an advantage
• Is willing to occasionally travel for project needs and holds a valid driver’s licensense
• Can access office in Espoo at least 3-4 days in a week, specially during your onboarding period
