About the role

As the Senior Manager within Employee Engagement, you will play a key role in driving employee engagement, strengthening our culture, and ensuring top-tier employee communication across our global community. You’ll lead a team of Employee Communication Specialists, working closely with senior leaders, HR, and cross-functional teams to align employee engagement with Fortum's broader business and people strategies.

Your role will include strategizing and implementing engagement plans, managing internal events, and supporting our employees throughout a period of transformation. You'll be at the forefront of shaping our culture, promoting our employer brand, and ensuring communication is impactful and aligned with our goals.

Work tasks

  • Employee Engagement Leadership: Own and manage the employee engagement communications strategy for the company.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a small, dedicated team of Employee Communication Specialists.
  • Strategy & Execution: Develop, plan, and execute employee engagement strategies that align with both business and people strategies.
  • Content Creation & Event Management: Oversee content creation for a variety of communication channels and manage internal events such as Open Doors, Townhalls, and Leaders Day.
  • Change Communication: Provide transparent, timely communication to support employees through transformation and business change.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Company Communications team, People team, and leadership to foster strong relationships and share best practices.
  • Plan & Adaptability: Ensure a holistic communication plan is in place each year, with the flexibility to adapt in our fast-paced environment.

We are looking for

  • Educational Background: A University degree in marketing, communication, business, or a related field.
  • Experience: Several years of experience in employee engagement and communications, preferably within a people-intensive organization or HR function.
  • Proven Track Record: Successful history of developing and executing engagement strategies in a corporate setting.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Exceptional ability to collaborate across a global matrix organization, with strong senior stakeholder management experience.
  • Languages: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Finnish.
  • Leadership Experience: Prior experience in leading and motivating teams is highly desirable.
  • Strategic & Hands-On: Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on content creation and support.
