We are looking for a Data Engineer to our client company Wärtsilä Data Platform service. The team is responsible for the total lifecycle management of data platforms, machine learning & advanced analytics solutions, front-end reporting applications, as well as for process automation services. We hope you to have a couple of years’ experience from this area and that you have been in dominant role deploying couple of successful data engineering projects with relevant technologies such as AWS and Databricks already.

About the role
In this role, you will be developing data extractions from various and complex data sources, loads and transformations on Databricks and AWS based data platform. The key for success is the close co-operation with business stakeholders, architects and data scientists to ensure that business requirements are fulfilled. You will be designing solution architectures and participate creating roadmap for the platform together with team. Support and maintenance for the data platform is part of the role as well as servant attitude for supporting platform users with their issues.

Work tasks
- Developing and deploying data extractions using AWS services, python and docker containers
- Developing and deploying data loads using Databricks, AWS data lake and serverless tooling
- Developing and deploying data transformations using Databricks pyspark and database procedures
- Support and maintenance for both AWS and Databricks based data platform
We are looking for
- Relevant academical background in engineering / IT (e.g. computer science / data science)
- Couple years of work experience in AWS, Python (Pandas and data processing), SQL and docker containers, Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Previous experience in project environments and working with data platforms
- Fluency in English
It is seen as a big advantage if you have experience working with Databricks using PySpark and SQL. Programming might be also what you do on your spare time, and we are interested to hear about your own projects.
