Evidence-based recruitment

At Academic Work, we use an evidence-based recruitment method that challenges traditional hiring practices and reliably predicts future job performance.

Our evidence-based recruitment method means we assess candidates solely on criteria that have been scientifically proven to correlate with job performance. Every hiring decision is grounded in data and research.

We place a strong emphasis on a candidate’s potential; the ability to learn quickly and apply existing knowledge to new situations. In today’s evolving job market, this adaptability is key to long-term success.

Our recruitment approach is the result of 25 years of industry experience, active participation in leading research, and deep analysis of how the world’s most successful companies hire.

Psychometric testing – a useful tool

Using tests in recruitment lets us focus on potential for the future, rather than just past background achievements. Experience becomes less important when we have something reliable to follow that better predicts future job performance.

The personality test

The adaptive personality test by Alva Labs is based on the Five-Factor Model, which is the most well-established and widely accepted personality model in the world. The Five-Factor Model includes five key personality dimensions which candidates are mapped to: Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Extraversion, Openness, and Emotional Stability. The test takes approximately 15 minutes.

The logic test

Alva Labs' logic test measures problem-solving skills and adaptability, both strongly correlated with work performance. The test takes about 15 minutes and adjusts based on your responses, making it one of the most effective and accurate tests for logical ability. It is also scientifically proven to predict future job performance.

The benefits of evidence-based recruitment

A transparent and fair recruitment process
Evidence-based recruitment is a fair and transparent process. We assess candidates strictly against criteria defined in the job profile, using standardized questions and evaluation models to ensure every applicant is reviewed equally and objectively.

Reduced risk of mistakes
A bad hire can be costly and frustrating. Our thorough process, combined with the expertise of our recruiters, significantly increases the likelihood of a successful match and long-term fit.

The right capabilities and true potential
In our experience, the candidate with the most impressive CV isn’t always the best fit. Many key qualities that determine job success don’t show up on a resume. That’s why we evaluate candidates holistically—looking at their skills, capabilities, and personality to understand their full potential.

Built-in equality, diversity, and inclusion
Our recruitment method is designed to be free from bias. By using objective tools and research-backed practices, we focus only on the factors that truly predict future job performance. Not only does this help uncover a wider range of qualified candidates, but studies also show that diversity within teams and organizations leads to stronger results and higher productivity.
