Lead Control Systems Engineer - FACTS, Tampere

About the role

As a Lead Control Engineer, you will design and implement control features for large-scale grid integration projects. You will bridge the gap between theoretical design and real-world application through laboratory testing and onsite commissioning.

Work tasks

This role involves end-to-end responsibility for control system implementation, from initial design and simulation to onsite commissioning and R&D.

• Design control systems for high-power reactive power compensators.
• Produce high-quality study documents and technical specifications.
• Plan and execute control and protection testing in laboratory environments.
• Manage system energizing and onsite commissioning of compensators.
• Participate in technical negotiations with end customers and stakeholders.
• Support technical tendering and equipment sourcing evaluations.
• Conduct R&D activities to advance FACTS control system design.

We are looking for

• Advanced knowledge in Electrical Power Engineering.
• Understanding of control theory for grid-connected devices.
• Knowledge of compensation systems and power electronics.
• Experience using simulation tools such as PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, or RTDS.
• Fluent written and oral English communication skills.
• Have completed advanced academic studies in Power System Engineering or equivalent.

It is meritorious if you have

• Experience with PSSE simulation software.
• Knowledge of STATCOM and SVC technologies.
• Previous experience in technical negotiations with stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel for onsite commissioning.
