Automation & Maintenance Specialist, Solar Foods

About the role

As an Automation and Maintenance Specialist, you will have a key role in keeping our production systems up and running at our Factory 01 in Vehkala, Vantaa. Your work will focus on planned, systematic functional improvements to the production process. You troubleshoot and maintain our automation system and production control logic to keep our Factory01 running safely and reliably in close collaboration with our Production and Maintenance teams. You work with Siemens PLCs and Gea Codex system in a live production environment and implement changes. You support production during disturbances, diagnose root causes, and restore operations safely and efficiently .

You also perform hands-on maintenance on process equipment and wide variety of different instruments. You do troubleshooting activities and contribute to preventive maintenance and reliability improvements together with our Production and Maintenance teams. In addition to working closely with our internal teams, you collaborate with external partners to plan work, share learnings and deliver fixes.

This role is hands-on, and within our small, agile organisation, you'll have the chance to contribute beyond defined job responsibilities. Solar Foodists in our Maintenance and Production teams appreciate supportive colleagues and the variety of work, as no one is limited to a single type of task. You'll join our small and skilled Maintenance team, reporting to Mikko Lehmusto, Head of Maintenance.

We are looking for

We expect you to have

• A B.Sc. in Industrial Automation or equivalent practical experience
• Experience with Siemens industrial automation systems (TIA Portal, Step7, WinCC)
• Solid PLC programming skills
• Hands-on experience with process control automation and equipment
• A willingness to troubleshoot beyond automation code when needed
• A can-do attitude and willingness to give a helping hand – as we at Solar Foods learn and grow together
• The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work flexibly
• Motivation to contribute to Solar Foods’ mission of building a more sustainable food system
• Fluent English skills

Considered an advantage

• Experience with GEA Codex Process Control
• Familiarity with Beckhoff, .NET technologies, or OT cybersecurity
• Experience in biotech or the food industry
• Finnish language skills
