About the role
In this position, you will play a key role in nuclear safety, regulatory dialogue, and owner's engineering. As the domain is actively developing, much of the work involves navigating new terrain - meaning you won't just follow established rules, but actively help shape them. You will join a collaborative team of 12 professionals that is expanding to meet future demands. You won't be left alone: onboarding and strong team support will ensure you get up to speed smoothly while leaving room for your creative technical problem-solving.
Due to the nature of the nuclear sector, a security clearance (background check) and drug testing will be conducted for the selected candidate prior to employment.
You are offered
- Strong Support & Mentorship: A supportive 12-person team where knowledge sharing is key, backed by thorough onboarding.
- Shape the Future: A unique chance to work on newbuild projects and contribute to building frameworks in a rapidly evolving sector.
- Growth Potential: As the team expands, you will have ample opportunities to deepen your technical expertise and broaden your scope of responsibilities over time.
Work tasks
- Nuclear Newbuild Projects: Evaluating plant concepts, leading or contributing to dialogue with regulators (in Finland and Sweden), and writing licensing documentation.
- Owner's Engineering: Supporting utilities and internal/external partners in new build projects.
- Safety Cases & Compliance: Investigating how plant concepts fulfill authority requirements and evaluating safety cases.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Actively working with internal cross-functional teams, plant suppliers, and external authority bodies.
We are looking for
- University-level study background in Energy Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Knowledge and practical experience in nuclear safety, preferably related to newbuild projects or power plant operations.
- Ability to think creatively while maintaining high technical rigor and precision, especially when working in areas where established frameworks are still being defined.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English is required.
It is meritorious if you have
- Proficiency in Finnish or Swedish.
- Prior experience in nuclear power plant operations, maintenance outages, or trainee programs.
