ABB Oy
ABB’s technology and expertise are continuously developed to meet the needs of increasingly intelligent power grids. In Finland, ABB’s Distribution Solutions business line develops, manufactures, sells, and markets protection relays as well as control, automation, and monitoring devices for electricity distribution networks.
In fault situations within the power grid, a protection relay detects the fault, communicates it forward, and thereby protects both human lives and equipment while improving the reliability of electricity supply. In addition to protection relays, the factory in Vaasa has leading expertise in remote control and monitoring devices, which are widely used by energy companies and in industry, including in Finland.
In next-generation smart grids, decentralized electricity generation based on renewable energy complements centralized production. As a result, grid monitoring, control, and protection play an increasingly important role. Control and protection devices help ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and reduce outage times. ⚡
