About the role
We are looking for an experienced Technical Implementation Manager to join our client, a large international company operating in a complex global business environment.
In this role, you will take a key position in strategic finance technology projects, leading technical implementations with a particular focus on SAP-based solutions and their integration into the wider IT landscape.
You will work at the intersection of Finance, IT and project management, ensuring that technical solutions support business requirements and are delivered successfully.
In larger programmes, you will act as the technical counterpart to the Finance Project Manager, taking ownership of IT workstreams and coordinating technical experts, architects and delivery teams. In smaller projects, you may take responsibility for the entire project from planning through implementation.
This position is particularly well suited to someone who combines strong project delivery skills with a solid understanding of SAP environments, enterprise applications and finance-related business processes.
You do not need to be a hands-on SAP developer or configuration specialist. What matters is your ability to understand the technologies involved, challenge technical decisions when necessary, and ensure that the right people and solutions come together to deliver successful outcomes.
We offer
- An opportunity to play a key role in strategic finance technology projects within a large international organisation.
- Responsibility for complex SAP-related implementations and collaboration with experienced technical specialists and business stakeholders.
- A global working environment with opportunities to influence how finance technology solutions are delivered.
- A hybrid working model and flexibility regarding your work location within Finland, subject to business needs.
- A permanent employment contract with Academic Work.
- A salary of approximately €6,000/month, depending on your experience and expertise, with flexibility for particularly strong candidates.
Work tasks
As a Technical Implementation Manager, you will take ownership of technical project delivery and ensure that technical workstreams progress in line with business requirements, project schedules and agreed quality standards.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading SAP-focused technical workstreams within strategic finance projects.
- Managing IT project scope, schedules, resources, budgets, risks, dependencies and delivery milestones.
- Coordinating technical solution design, integrations, testing, deployment and transition into operations.
- Working closely with SAP architects, technical specialists, IT service managers, Finance stakeholders and external vendors.
- Ensuring smooth cooperation between business and IT teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Preparing project status reports, steering committee materials, business cases and project gate reviews.
- Ensuring technical solutions align with enterprise architecture, information security, governance and internal control requirements.
- Supporting change management, user adoption and operational readiness.
What we're looking for
We are looking for a technically confident project professional who understands both enterprise IT environments and the business processes they support.
To succeed in this role, we expect you to have (must-have's):
- Extensive experience in IT project management and technical implementation, preferably at least eight years of relevant project leadership experience.
- Experience leading technical workstreams or implementations in SAP-related projects.
- A good understanding of SAP technology environments, including areas such as SAP Basis, integrations, access management and cloud services.
- Experience with finance-related systems, projects or business processes.
- The ability to understand technical dependencies and coordinate architects, technical specialists and business stakeholders.
- Experience managing complex projects involving multiple teams, vendors and international stakeholders.
- Strong project governance, planning, risk management and reporting capabilities.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
We consider the following an advantage (nice-to-have's):
- Previous experience as an SAP Solution Architect, Technical Architect, SAP Project Manager or ERP Implementation Lead.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Finance (FI/CO), SAP GRC or SAP integration technologies.
- Participation in finance transformation projects involving accounting, treasury, invoicing, procurement or related processes.
- Experience coordinating enterprise application architecture, integrations and cloud-based solutions.
- Knowledge of IT security, internal controls and regulatory or compliance requirements.
As a person, you are
- Structured and accountable: You take ownership of delivery and keep complex projects under control.
- Technically curious: You are comfortable exploring technical details and understanding dependencies.
- Collaborative: You communicate effectively with Finance stakeholders, IT specialists and external partners.
- Confident and solution-oriented: You can challenge assumptions, resolve issues and move projects forward.
- Adaptable: You navigate changing priorities and complex global environments without losing sight of business outcomes.
Practical information
Location: Helsinki is the preferred location, but candidates based elsewhere in Finland may also be considered. If you are based somewhere else you are expected to visit Helsinki when needed, usually weekly.
Hybrid work: The role requires flexibility to attend the office when needed, typically around one or two days per week, as well as occasional travel to other company locations in Finland for workshops.
Language: Fluent professional English is required. Finnish is not mandatory but preferred.
Start: As soon as possible, subject to agreement.
Salary: About 6000 €/month, depending on your prior experience.
