Work tasks
This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of power electronics and electrical grid technology. You will join a niche team of experts where your work directly impacts how high-voltage grids operate globally.
In this position, you will be part of the NPI (New Product Introduction) team, focusing on the simulation and validation of advanced grid solutions. Your main tool will be the RTDS (Real-Time Digital Simulator), and your daily work involves Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulations.
Because the role requires hands-on management of RTDS hardware and laboratory equipment, this position is fully office/lab-based in Tampere.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Running and designing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulations.
- Managing and developing RTDS hardware setups.
- Using Matlab & Simulink for simulation and building test benches.
- Analyzing fault situations and system performance in a high-voltage grid context.
- Collaborating closely with design engineers to validate control systems.
You are offered...
- Long-term Mentorship: A thorough and supportive onboarding process into a niche technology area.
- International Opportunities: While the base role is in Tampere, there is a possibility for global site assignments (1–2 years down the line) for those interested in international travel.
- Cutting-edge Tech: Access to the latest simulation hardware and the chance to work on large-scale grid projects.
We are looking for
We value potential and learning agility above all else. This is a highly specialized field, and we are prepared to provide long-term onboarding for the right person. Whether you are a recent graduate with a strong academic background or a professional looking to pivot into grid technology, your ability to grasp complex systems is what matters.
Requirements:
- Technical Education: A University degree (M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or Control Engineering.
- Control Theory: A deep understanding of the interface between power electronics and the electrical grid (control side expertise is critical).
- Software Tools: Proficiency in Matlab & Simulink.
- Communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly in English (our primary working language).
- Location: Readiness to work onsite in Tampere (no remote work option due to hardware requirements).
We appreciate if you'll have...
- Previous experience with RTDS, HIL testing, or high-voltage laboratories.
- Familiarity with the power electronics industry
