Mechanical Design Engineer – Custom Solutions & Product Development

About the role

You will take a key role in developing mechanical components and adapting existing technical equipment ranges to meet specific customer orders. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that designs are not only functional but also optimized for manufacturing. The work is highly cross-functional, requiring you to coordinate technical details with suppliers, sales, product management, R&D, and production.

In this role, you will be employed in a 12-month fixed-term contract with our client company, working as an embedded consultant for an in-house product company.

Work tasks

Your focus will be on high-quality mechanical design, engineering changes, and technical documentation. You will act as a technical link between the design phase and manufacturing.

• Adapting established product designs to order-specific requirements and producing 3D models.
• Preparing precise manufacturing drawings with the necessary technical detail.
• Contributing to engineering changes and updates to existing products.
• Supporting improvements to CAD data handling, technical documentation, and engineering workflows.
• Updating design records and related information in PDM and ERP systems.

We are looking for

• Mandatory: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Mandatory: Relevant professional experience in mechanical design, specifically involving customer-order engineering or modifications.
• Mandatory: Practical experience with PTC Creo.
• Mandatory: Fluent communication skills in English.
• Advantage: Specific experience with PTC Creo, familiarity with PDM systems, and a deep understanding of manufacturing methods and their implications for design.
• Personality: You have an organized, thorough approach, a strong commitment to quality, and the ability to work independently while keeping stakeholders informed.

Schedule for the recruitment:

Location & Remote work:

• Helsinki Metropolitan Area. A hybrid model is in use, with an expectation of being at the office at least 2 days a week.
