Medical Technology Specialist, AGATE Sensors, Espoo

About the role

As a Medical Technology Specialist, you’ll be a key contributor to AGATE Sensors' entry into the health technology market. You will act as a researcher and expert at the intersection of R&D and customer interface, bridging medical understanding with technical insight to drive innovation in optical and imaging sensors for non-invasive physiological data measurement.

You’ll collaborate closely with the Product Management and Algorithm Developers, defining what data to collect, how to interpret physiological signals, and how to demonstrate the technology’s potential to customers. From concept exploration to testing, you’ll help shape how AGATE’s sensors unlock new insights from the human body.

You’ll join a tight-knit, international team of 15 professionals — a group of physicists, engineers, and commercialization experts driven by scientific excellence and curiosity. Backed by peer-reviewed research, published studies, and multiple patent filings, AGATE operates at the highest standards of scientific innovation.

Work tasks

• Lead the exploration of how AGATE sensors can be applied in health and medical technology.
• Coordinate research, testing, and development of new sensor technology.
• Design and deliver customer demonstrations in collaboration with product management.
• Coordinate algorithm developers, defining data collection and utilization.
• Investigate non-invasive physiological measurements (e.g., ear, wrist, fingertip).
• Bridge medical understanding with technical thinking to suggest sensor improvements.
• Act as a link between product management, algorithm developers, and customer interface.

We are looking for

• Advanced knowledge and working experience in medical technology, biomedical engineering, physics, or related fields.
• Understanding of human physiology and optical measurement principles (e.g. blood flow, tissue analysis)
• Basic technical understanding of sensors and data interpretation.
• Fluent English (Finnish is an advantage)

Other information

• Location: Espoo, Tietäjäntie 2 (flexible hybrid model, on-site collaboration expected)
• Employment: Full-time, permanent employment with Academic Work and possibility to be recruited by AGATE Sensors.

• Selected candidate may be subject to a basic security clearance and a drug test conducted by AGATE Sensors prior to the start of employment.
