We are looking for an experienced Hardware Expert to take charge of control system hardware solutions for heavy mobile machinery. About the role
This role bridges the gap between electrical and software teams, focusing on selecting and managing commercial hardware components. You will ensure hardware supports software seamlessly, overseeing component lifecycles and contributing to robust system solutions within a collaborative R&D setting.

Work tasks
You will be responsible for hardware development and maintenance, including drafting specifications for new devices and managing change requests for existing ones. A key aspect involves selecting and integrating appropriate sensor technologies, designing their installations, and ensuring protections in challenging environments.
- Select, integrate, and maintain hardware solutions for control systems.
- Evaluate and implement commercial components like displays, IO modules, and sensors.
- Manage component compatibility, reliability, and lifecycle with suppliers.
- Work with diverse interfaces and protocols including CAN bus, Ethernet, and 4-20 mA.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, software, mechanical, and hydraulic engineering teams.
- Develop new hardware and draft specifications for IO units, displays, and industrial computers.
- Select and design installations for appropriate sensor technologies in demanding conditions.
We are looking for
- Educational Background: A relevant degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or Mechatronics.
- Protocol Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial interfaces and communication protocols (e.g., CANopen, Ethernet, serial communication, 4–20 mA).
- Collaboration Skills: Ability to work closely with electrical engineering, software development (Codesys & C++), mechanical engineering, hydraulics, and sourcing teams.
- System Understanding: Basic understanding of firmware solutions to support the overall system architecture.
- Mindset: A proactive approach to finding technical solutions for installation, shielding, and connection challenges.
It is meritorious if you have
- Basic PLC programming knowledge.
- Good understanding of embedded systems and firmware interfaces with hardware.
