About the role
In this role you will lead automation development for our geothermal drilling products, such as drill rigs, compressors and drill rod handlers, combining hands-on fieldwork with software design. Your main focus is programming and refining Parker IQAN systems to improve machine autonomy and reliability. You’ll work closely with operators, learn from real-world drilling sites, and turn those insights into smarter automation solutions.
This position includes on average 1 day per week time spent on-site (mostly within Nordic countries) with the machines and operational teams., while your base is at our Ylöjärvi site with a flexible hybrid working model.
We’re looking for someone with previous automation design experience, who understands process/system-level planning and can bring both technical expertise and vision. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently and making decisions, while also collaborating with customers and internal teams.

Work tasks
This role focuses on leading and executing the full lifecycle of automation design for mobile drilling machinery, from software development and component selection to on-site commissioning and continuous improvement, with a strong emphasis on hands-on development and R&D.
- Create and maintain automation software (Parker IQAN).
- On-site operational support, commissioning, troubleshooting, and development.
- Component selection and supplier collaboration.
- Collaboration with procurement and manufacturing teams.
- Contribute to long-term R&D and new product development.
- Collect feedback from operators and colleagues for continuous improvement.
We are looking for
- A customer-oriented person who takes initiative and can drive things forward in varying conditions.
- Fluent English skills. Finnish and Swedish skills are seen as advantage.
- Previous experience in automation system design (Mobile machinery background strongly preferred, e.g. mining, forestry, construction equipment). Experience with Parker IQAN seen as advantage.
- Experience in leading or owning parts of automation design projects.
- A proactive mindset and strong communication skills.
- Willingness to travel for work to Nordic countries regularly. (approx. 20-25% of working time)
- Driver's licence.

We develop equipment for medium deep geothermal drilling (currently up to 2000 m deep geothermal wells). Our current products include geothermal drill rigs, air compressors and boosters. Geocadia Machines Oy is a daughter company of Geocadia AB, which aims to revolutionise heating energy production in the Nordic countries. Geocadia Machines currently has a very healthy order backlog and ambitious growth plan. The longer term aim is to become a global powerhouse in geothermal drilling machinery.
