We are looking for an MBD Engineer (Model Based Definition) to join our client’s R&D and Engineering organisation in a full-time, permanent position. The company is a global industrial technology player investing heavily in modern product development, digitalisation, and next-generation engineering processes. In this role, you will play a key part in developing and implementing model-based definition practices that support the entire product value chain.

About the role
As an MBD Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining MBD workflows and models. This role supports the R&D and Engineering organization, ensuring seamless data exchange and digital continuity across the product value chain within a collaborative team.
Location & working model
The preferred location for this position is Vaasa. Helsinki or Turku is also possible for candidates who are willing to travel to Vaasa for approximately one full workweek once per quarter. The role supports a hybrid working model.

- Salary range: approximately 3700–4700 € / month, depending on experience

Work tasks
As an MBD Engineer, you will develop, deploy and maintain MBD workflows, models, and standards to support product design, manufacturing, quality, and other stakeholders involved in the product lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent digital product definitions, smooth data exchange, and strong digital continuity throughout the organisation.
You will also contribute to PLM system utilisation, process automation and optimisation, and serve as an internal expert by training and supporting teams in MBD tools and best practices.
- Develop and maintain 3D model-based definition standards and guidelines for product design and documentation
- Implement and harmonise MBD workflows across design teams to ensure consistency and alignment with industry standards
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to enable seamless data exchange and digital continuity
- Support PLM integration for effective product data management
- Drive design process optimisation and automation using MBD principles
- Provide training and support to stakeholders on MBD tools, methods, and best practices
We are looking for
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Strong understanding of GD&T and ISO standards for digital product definition
- Proven experience with MBD/MBE implementations in product development environments
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities
- Ability to learn and adopt new tools and technologies quickly
- Familiarity with digital manufacturing processes and data interoperability
- Understanding of digital product definition standards and PLM integration
- Fluent English is required, Finnish and/or Swedish language skills are considered a strong advantage
