Component Sourcing Manager, ABB, Vaasa/remote

About the role

We are looking for a Component Sourcing Manager to join ABB’s Distribution Solutions procurement team in a newly established role. Due to rapid growth and increasing challenges in global component availability, you will play a key part in securing the continuity of production by ensuring the availability of electronic components across ABB’s global supply chain.

While this role can be performed remotely from anywhere in Finland, most of your team is based in Vaasa, and occasional on-site presence (approximately once per month) is expected to support collaboration and team connection.

Work tasks

You will work as part of a procurement team and operate at the intersection of operational purchasing and strategic sourcing, coordinating multiple stakeholders including suppliers, distributors, brokers, R&D, and contract manufacturers worldwide. The role is operational in nature and requires daily hands-on coordination with stakeholders to resolve component shortages and keep production running.

• Source critical electronic components from global markets and suppliers
• Expedite component deliveries and manage supplier relationships to mitigate shortages
• Collaborate with R&D on identifying and approving alternative component solutions
• Participate in meetings with stakeholders to monitor availability and market conditions
• Manage direct purchases and inventory of critical components to support production needs
• Support inventory and system-related processes (SAP)

We are looking for

• A relevant educational background (e.g. engineering, supply chain, business or similar)
• Excellent communication skills in English, as you will work in a global environment
• Confidence working with different tools, such as Excel and SAP
• Work experience from either:
  • Technical / electronics background:
    • Understanding of electronic components and their applications
    • Basic knowledge of how component markets and sourcing work
  • OR commercial / procurement background:
    • Solid similar experience in procurement or sourcing
    • Experience working with suppliers and component availability

Fluency in Finnish is seen as an asset.
