About the role
Elmery is a Finnish start-up company that provides a patented, unique metal recovery technology for refineries to better circulate the metals, increasing cost efficiency and sustainability.
This position offers a unique opportunity to combine hands-on laboratory work with a leadership. As a Laboratory Manager, you will take a central role in leading laboratory operations, ensuring high standards of efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will also have a direct impact on shaping the laboratory’s future by driving its development, optimizing resources, and contributing to key decisions. The role is best suited for someone who can recognize situations that require flexibility and adapt accordingly. The work takes place at Elmeri’s laboratory in Kivihaka.

Work tasks
- Leading the daily laboratory work and planning
- Performing wet chemistry tests and supporting daily laboratory operations
- Ensuring that all laboratory equipment and tools are properly maintained and meet required standards
- Implementing and enforcing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies to ensure a safe working environment
- Conducting onboarding and training for lab assistants
- Active ownership and expert oversight of laboratory processes, including their development, optimization, and documentation
We are looking for
- Suitable higher education degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Chemistry or a related field, obtained from either UAS or university.
- Several years of proven experience in wet chemistry laboratory operations, including conducting tests, managing lab equipment, and handling inventory
- Good understanding and practical application of HSE Policy, ensuring safety-first principles in all lab activities
- Advanced knowledge of safe handling and disposal procedures for hazardous chemicals, such as acids and bases
- Fluent English spoken and written skills
It is meritorious if you have
- Demonstrated experience in a lab management or supervisory capacity
- Experience in metallurgy, mining, metal-refining, hydrometallurgy, and/or electrochemistry
- Valid first aid certification
