Full time, permanent contract with Academic Work

Possibility to work remote

About the role

We are looking for a motivated SOC Data Scientist / Data Analyst to join a global technology company’s operational security environment. In this role, you will work with large volumes of incident-related data and help transform raw information into clear, reliable and actionable reporting for internal stakeholders and senior management.

The role is connected to a Security Operations Center / SOC environment, but previous cybersecurity experience is not required. What matters most is your ability to work with raw data, clean and structure information, build meaningful reporting, and develop automation around data flows and dashboards.

You will work closely with an international team, especially with reporting and SOC stakeholders based outside Finland. The working language is English.

What we offer

This is a great opportunity to grow into a data-focused role in a global technology company and gain valuable exposure to SOC operations, incident reporting and international stakeholder collaboration.

You will be offered:

  • A full-time role in a global technology environment
  • A chance to work with real operational data and business-critical reporting
  • International collaboration with experienced SOC and reporting professionals
  • Good growth potential as the role develops over time toward broader reporting, tool development and SOC support tasks

Salary

The salary level depends on your experience and educational background.

As a guideline:

  • Recent graduate: approximately 3,300–3,500 EUR/month
  • A few years of relevant experience after a master’s degree: approximately 4,300–4,500 EUR/month

The final salary will be discussed based on your skills and experience.

Work tasks

In this role, your work will focus on data analysis, reporting and reporting automation related to SOC operations and incident data. The team handles a large volume of incidents every month, and your contribution will help improve how this data is collected, structured, visualized and communicated across the organization.

A typical week may include working with thousands of rows of raw incident data, refining it into structured datasets, building visualizations in Power BI, improving existing Excel-based reporting, and discussing reporting needs with stakeholders from different countries.

Your typical tasks may include:

  • Working with raw incident data from SOC operations and turning it into structured reporting
  • Building and developing Power BI dashboards and Excel-based reports
  • Cleaning, combining and interpreting data from different sources
  • Supporting monthly and ad hoc business reporting for management and internal stakeholders
  • Developing automation for recurring reporting processes
  • Working with tools such as Power BI, Excel and Splunk
  • Creating clear visualizations and summaries from sensitive operational data
  • Supporting senior analysts and SOC stakeholders with data-driven insights
  • Developing reporting practices as the role and team needs evolve

We are looking for

You could be a recent graduate with strong analytical skills, or already have a few years of relevant experience in data analytics, reporting, business intelligence or data science.

You do not need to have previous SOC or cybersecurity experience, but you should be motivated to learn and comfortable working in a technical, international environment.

To succeed in this role, we hope you have:

  • A relevant higher education degree, for example in data science, analytics, information systems, business intelligence, computer science, engineering, statistics or a related field
  • Strong skills in working with raw data: cleaning, structuring, interpreting and finding patterns
  • Good knowledge of Power BI
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Interest in reporting automation and improving recurring reporting processes
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • A proactive, curious and service-minded working style
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with international stakeholders

Considered an advantage

The following are not mandatory, but will help you stand out. If you have any of these characteristics make sure to emphasise those in your application:

  • Experience with Splunk
  • Previous experience in business intelligence, data analytics, data science or reporting development
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, SOC operations, incident management or IT operations
  • Experience with sensitive data or reporting in a large organization
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, data automation or other analytics tools
  • Other language skills in addition to English

Practical information

  • Location: West Helsinki, Finland
  • Working model: Hybrid, after onboarding approximately 50% office and 50% remote is possible
  • Working hours: Full-time, office hours
  • Start date: As soon as possible, latest in June
  • Language: Fluent English required
  • Employment type: Full-time, permanent
  • Security: The selected person will undergo a security clearance.
  • Please note: The recruitment process is fast-paced, and interviews with our client are planned for week 23, with the final decision expected on week 24.

Could this be your next step?

If you are motivated by data, reporting and automation, and want to develop your skills in an international SOC-related environment, this role could be an excellent opportunity for you. We are especially interested in people who enjoy working with raw data, building structure from complexity and creating reporting that genuinely helps people make better decisions.
