About the role
As a Junior GIS Developer, you will contribute to building and maintaining geospatial tools that directly support Posti’s core postal services — from optimizing delivery routes to mapping coverage areas. During the early phase, you will work alongside an experienced GIS Developer to learn the systems while supporting GIS applications and data operations. Following this period, you will take on more independent development tasks and contribute actively to new GIS projects.
The workplace is currently based in Helsinki, Postintaival, but will soon be relocating to downtown Helsinki, Postitalo. The team operates on a hybrid work model, but we’re seeking someone who enjoys working on-site.

Work tasks
- Software development with a focus on route planning and optimization for postal services
- Development and maintenance of GIS applications and tools
- Automation of data workflows and processes
- Involvement in fleet management systems and processes
We are looking for
- Relevant education background in Geography, Geomatics, Geographic Information Science or similar field
- Some prior work experience in data engineering or system development
- Solid understanding of GIS applications (e.g. Esri, QGIS, Cloud native GIS)
- Familiarity with Databricks platform
- Good programming skills in Python and experience in SQL querying and database interaction
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
